Reflections of... "There. It's DEAD! Let's go!"

The moment I've been waiting for so long to blog about has finally come: Strikeforce is folding!

This became clear to pretty much everyone yesterday, as TMZ, Caged Insider, BJPenn.com and every other MMA site posted a story about Ronda Rousey being signed as the first female fighter in the UFC, as well as their first World Women's Bantamweight Champion.

That news came as a surprise to all who knew that Rousey had multiple Strikeforce fights left on her contract and was not allowed to be poached from Strikeforce while the Showtime deal was in effect. Clearly, this was the indicator.

And it came to fruition this morning, as the report came down that January's Super Strikeforce card will be the last in the organization's history.

That card will feature Daniel Cormier's obligatory final fight in the company, as well as three men's title fights. Caged Insider pinpointed about 22 of the company's fighters who would be signed to the UFC, leaving the other names in limbo.

I still don't understand why they couldn't add more fighters. It's clear from the thin PPV cards that they could use the increase in talent. Still, it's nice to see the transition happening.

I firmly expect a second women's division added by the end of 2013, and that Invicta FC will be gaining a more notable place in the MMA world.
