UFC on FX 1 Preview

The UFC's relationship with Fox officially kicks off tonight, as FX will get its first Fight Night event. (Is it even being called a Fight Night anymore? No? OK then.)

The main event actually is pretty legit for a Not-Fight Night event. Melvin Guillard and Jim "Mayhem" Miller, a clash of two lightweights who recently blew their chance at a title shot, headline the card.

Guillard and Miller had fights a few months back, each one were title eliminators for them, and because of their defeats, the two are now looking to get back on track.

Guillard is very striking and wrestling heavy, which will serve as a nice contrast to the wrestling and jiu-jitsu skills of Mayhem.

I'm going to say that Guillard has enough takedown defense to keep the fight standing, and so I'll say he controls the bout and wins by Knockout (Round 2).

Welterweights: Dwane Ludwig v. Josh Neer

These two have 83 fights between each other, so there will definitely be plenty of experience in the cage. But Neer is the more balanced fighter, so I'll take Neer to win by decision.

Bantamweights: Mike Easton v. Jared Papazian

Easton is a rising star in the UFC with incredible striking. Papazian has more experience and more balance. Normally, I'd like Papazian, but he's got a gate-keeper feel to him. I'll take Easton by 1st round KO.

Heavyweights: Pat Barry v. Christian Morecraft

Barry's job may be on the line in this fight, but he does seem like time has passed him by. Morecraft has more upside, and so I'll take him to win by submission in the second round.

That's all for this week. I'll see you next week for UFC on Fox 2!
